Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
According to traditional Asian theory, great health is achieved when energy is allowed to flow freely throughout the body. This essential energy is called qi (chee) and allows the body to perform it's everyday functions such as walking, talking, thinking, breathing, dreaming, etc.. Everyday we face a variety of stresses that affect our minds and bodies, contributing to the blockage of qi, thus creating imbalances that result in stress and discomfort.
Traditional Chinese Medicine offers natural, healthy solutions for relief from pain, discomfort and stress using a variety of traditional techniques. These include not only acupuncture, and herbal therapy, but dietary and lifestyle recommendations as well. This medicine looks at the patient in it's entirety and focuses on treating not only the current symptoms, but also the underlying root problem in order to try and prevent a reoccurrence. The goal of the medicine is to help the body heal itself by adjusting the imbalances within, and empowering you, the patient to play an active role in your recovery and future health.
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine can be extremely valuable in treating acute as well as chronic conditions. Please explore this page to learn more about treatment modalities and commonly treated disorders.

- How many treatments will I need?
When assessing how many treatments are needed we do take into account the severity of the complaint, how long you've had it, your general health and your lifestyle. Everybody's body responds differently to acupuncture and we all heal at different paces. Acute problems or a flare up of a chronic problem like a muscle strain can often be resolved in a few sessions. A series of treatments are usually needed for more chronic problems. It is common to need 4 or more acupuncture sessions.
- What should I expect for cost?
Treatment costs vary depending on frequency of treatments and individual needs. Herbal prescriptions may also add to the treatment cost. Flex plans are a great way to pay for treatment. Package plans are available. Most insurances accepted.
- Are Chinese herbal formulas safe and why should I use them?
After a careful assessment of your condition, the acupuncturist will select an herbal formula that will fit you and your particular pattern. Much like a Western M.D. uses pharmaceutical prescriptions an Acupuncturist will use Chinese herbs. The advantage of herbal formulas is that they are constructed in such a way that the potential side effects from one herb is balanced by the relationship of another. Side effects of Chinese herbs are minimal as well as the cost.
